Leading in Scientific Research and Innovation: Industrial Engineering at Balıkesir University
As the Department of Industrial Engineering at Balıkesir University, we aim to be a pioneer not only in education but also in scientific research. With the active participation of our students and the support of our dynamic academic staff, we conduct original, innovative, and socially beneficial research at both national and international levels. Our research activities are designed not only to contribute to the advancement of science but also to provide engineering solutions to the challenges faced by industry and society.
On this page, you can explore the research focus areas, ongoing projects, publications, and research infrastructure of our department in detail.
Our Research Focus Areas
Within the broad interdisciplinary structure of Industrial Engineering, our department conducts in-depth research in various strategic areas. Our main focus areas are as follows:
Operations Research and Optimization
Developing mathematical models and optimization algorithms to support decision-making processes in complex systems, improve efficiency, and ensure the most effective use of resources.
Production Systems and Logistics Management
Conducting research in areas such as intelligent production systems, optimization of supply chains, warehouse management, and the design of transportation and distribution networks.
Simulation and Modeling
Developing simulation models to analyze the behavior of real-world systems, evaluate their performance, and test potential improvements.
Data Science and Big Data Analytics
The collection, processing, and analysis of industrial data, followed by the development of decision support systems utilizing the data derived.
Quality and Process Improvement
The improvement of organizational performance by applying methodologies such as total quality management, Six Sigma, lean production, and process optimization.
Human Factors and Ergonomics
Studies on workplace design, human–machine interaction, occupational safety, and ergonomic approaches to improving productivity.
Research Projects and Partnerships
In addition to projects supported by national and international funding organizations (such as TÜBİTAK and EU projects), our department carries out numerous applied research projects in collaboration with industry. These projects also provide our students with the opportunity to actively participate in research processes and to develop solutions to real-world problems.
