Technical Training in the Workplace
(7+1)
Integrate Your Education with the Business World!
Real-World Experience Through The 7+1 Model
As the Department of Industrial Engineering at Balıkesir
University, we place great importance on ensuring that our students gain
industry experience before graduation and reinforce their theoretical knowledge
in real work environments. Within this framework, our “Technical Training in the Workplace (7+1)” program is an innovative applied education model specifically
designed to achieve these goals.
Through this model, our students spend one semester of their
eight-semester undergraduate education working full-time in a company, taking
on an active role as if they were regular employees. This is far more than a
traditional internship; as an integral part of the curriculum, it establishes a
vital bridge between academic knowledge and professional practice.
What is Technical Training in the Workplace (7+1)?
The 7+1 Education Model is a system that enables our undergraduate students to complete seven semesters of theoretical and applied coursework at the university, while dedicating one full semester to practical training in an enterprise within the industrial or service sector. During this period, our students take the “Technical Training in the Workplace” course, acquiring its intended learning outcomes directly in the workplace.
Real Work Experience
Throughout the designated semester, our students take on roles as actual employees within a company, directly engaging in business processes and assuming real responsibilities.
Application of Theoretical Knowledge
Students gain the opportunity to put into practice the engineering theories, problem-solving methodologies, and optimization techniques learned in their coursework within real-world contexts.
-
Career-Oriented Development
Before graduation, they experience industry practices, organizational culture, teamwork, and professional communication, thereby making a solid start to their careers..
-
Employment Advantage
Students who successfully complete the program gain a significant experiential advantage in their post-graduation job search; in many cases, they secure employment opportunities within the very companies where they received their training.
