Double Major Program (DMP)

Objective of the Double Major Program

The Double Major Program (DMP) is designed to enable students who demonstrate outstanding success in their primary undergraduate programs to pursue a second undergraduate degree simultaneously. Through this program, students gain in-depth knowledge and skills in two different disciplines, providing them with the opportunity to make a stronger start to their careers.

Who Can Apply?

The application requirements for the Double Major Program are detailed in Article 6 of the Balıkesir University Double Major Directive. Applications must be submitted to the student affairs office of the relevant department within the specified dates, together with the application form and transcript.

(16/03/2018) At the time of application, the student must have successfully completed all courses taken in the major program up to the semester in which they are applying.
(16/03/2018) At the time of application, students whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) in their major degree program is at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and who rank within the top twenty percent (20%) of their cohort in the major degree program, are eligible to apply for a second major degree program.
Students whose cumulative grade point average (GPA) in their major degree program is at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale but who are not ranked within the top 20% of their cohort in the major degree program may also apply to a double major program, provided that their score is not lower than the minimum base score required for admission to the respective program in that year.
In cases where the number of applications exceeds the quota, ranking is determined based on the students’ cumulative grade point average (GPA) in their major program. (Additional Sentence: 12/06/2015) If the GPAs are equal, the student’s LYS score from the year of admission to the major program is taken into consideration.
